Abstract. Introduction. The problem of digital identity has become a problem quite recently, which is connected with the transition of the digital culture of society to a mature stage. The absence of digital identity is considered bad form today, and the methods of its formation have not yet been clearly defined. Nevertheless, in the conditions of high risk of the information society, its participants have formed a conscious idea of the important role of digital identity in ensuring the security of the information space. Theoretical analysis. An analysis of the problem of digital identity formation has revealed a growing tendency to reduce the anonymity of presence on the Internet. This is due to the interest in such an aspect of digital identity as digital identification. The importance of ensuring digital identification on the Internet is dictated by the ability to neutralize the activity of bots and cyber fraudsters on the network, as well as to ensure the best communication with online services of state companies. The best way to form a digital identity is not associated with coercive measures, such as using a passport to access the Internet, but with digital socialization, as a series of measures aimed at improving literacy in the virtual space. Conclusion. Digital socialization is based on digital competence, which is the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, and abilities in working with digital technologies. In the course of digital socialization, a new type of Internet user consciousness is formed, the priority values of which are the values of ensuring the security of one's presence in the digital environment. This, in turn, leads to the formation of a digital culture and digital identity. The bearer of a new type of consciousness will not be thoughtless about the problem of his own digital identity, creating fakes on the Internet and thereby indulging cyber fraudsters; his actions in the virtual space will be dictated primarily by ensuring the security of both his own and other users of the digital space.
Key words: digital identity, digital culture, digital socialization, information society, digital footprint.
