Abstract. The article presents an overview of the scholar activities of Professor Alexander Ivanovich Pigalev. The main stages of the evolution of his philosophical views are shown, a brief description of the main works - monographs "Philosophical nihilism and the crisis of culture", "Culture as totality: (Methodological aspects)", "The spectral reality of culture: (The fetishism and the apparency of an invisibility)", "Postmodern Apocalypticism" is given. The results of A.I. Pigalev's work on the translation and popularization of the ideas of the German-American philosopher-dialogist Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy are demonstrated. The innovative nature of the "sociology of the symbol" – an approach to the analysis of cultural categories (such as Being, God, Nature, Spirit), implemented by A.I. Pigalev in articles published in the two-volume encyclopedia "Cultural Studies" and in the cultural philosophical dilogy, consisting of monographs "Culture as integrity" and "The spectral reality of culture", is particularly emphasized. At the end, a list of the most important scholar works of A.I. Pigalev is given.
