Abstract. Patriotism is the most important criterion for assessing the sociocultural processes and the effectiveness of social and political institutions activity. The article presents the results of the sociological survey which provide the empirical data on the content and significance of patriotic values of three generations of the Russian people. It is shown that the general high-level manifestations of citizenship and patriotism, patriotic values of the adult generation are more pronounced than those of the younger generation of the Russians. The author comes to the conclusion that the proliferation of patriotic values in different generations is aimed at the consolidation of modern Russian society and the continuity of generations. Today the patriotic education of youth is a priority direction of the Russian government.
