Abstract. The article presents an analytical review of the scientific literature on the interaction of older people with digital technologies in urban public transport. The relevance of the study stems from the convergence of two global trends: demographic aging and the digital transformation of the urban environment, one of the main elements of which is public transport. Digitalization of transport, being a tool for increasing efficiency, simultaneously creates risks of social exclusion for groups with a low level of digital skills, which include many representatives of the older generation. Barriers limiting access to digital transport services have been identified, and systemic obstacles to the digital inclusion of older people have been distinguished: inequality in digital access, skills, and competencies; socio-psychological barriers (distrust of technology and fear of automation); physiological limitations; and the impact of low levels of education and income. Special attention is paid to the role of family and friends as a key factor in successful digital adaptation, ensuring knowledge transfer and motivation to master new services. The duality of the influence of digital transformation is shown: it can both exacerbate transport inequality and, subject to technology adaptation, improve mobility. A set of measures has been identified to create an inclusive environment, including intuitive interface design, training programs, the involvement of older people in service design, and the active role of the state. The main conclusion is that the effectiveness of digital solutions is determined not by their technological complexity, but by social adaptation to user needs. Ignoring this leads to the risk of “transport exclusion,” which underscores the need to integrate a social approach into the process of technological transformation. The prospects for empirical research in the field of the daily experience of older passengers in the digital transport environment are outlined.

Key words: urban public transport, older people, digitalization, digital inequality, mobility, adaptation strategies.
