Abstract. The aim of the study was to assess value preferences and attitudes toward marriage and reproductive attitudes among student youth. The study’s novelty lies in its integration of survey data from two educational institutions – secondary vocational and higher – facilitating comparative analysis between these groups. The theoretical and methodological framework is based on the concept of family well-being, supplemented by an approach that defines criteria for adolescent well-being. The empirical basis comprises data from a large-scale survey (n = 51,175, nested sampling) conducted in 11 regions of the Russian Federation as part of the “Family Session” project. It was established that the most significant values for student youth are health and close relationships; the value placed on marriage is lower than that placed on parenthood. Reproductive attitudes among student youth are formed gradually, with older age associated with stronger attitudes. At the same time, the intended number of children remains below the level required for population replacement. Marital status is a factor contributing to the strengthening of reproductive attitudes. Differences were identified in the marital attitudes of student youth enrolled in higher education institutions versus those in secondary vocational education. The prospects for further research are linked to the ongoing monitoring of value orientations, marital attitudes, and reproductive attitudes among student youth, which will enable wellgrounded conclusions regarding nuptiality and fertility in both conditional and real generations.

Key words: marriage attitudes, reproductive attitudes, family, family support measures, traditional family values, students youth, student family, family and demographic policy.
