Abstract. In the context of modern social dynamics, there is an increasing need to find mechanisms that work to optimize the resolution of socio-political problems, economic crises, and existential contradictions. The past still plays a significant role in the search for such mechanisms, revealing powerful resources in the process of its comprehension, rethinking, and interpretation in an actual socio-political context. History as a science provides great opportunities for modern research in the field of social and humanitarian knowledge. The way of existence of historical knowledge is a text, the content of which becomes historical reality in all its diversity, an event plan refracted in the mind of a scientist. The uniqueness of the text as a work of the speech-making process, transmitting meaningful information, accumulating deep meanings, and being open to interpretation makes it an important component of modern culture aimed at establishing a connection between the past and the present, overcoming faults, and expanding the sphere of "between." The establishment of balance is largely due to the understanding of the role of text as a socio-philosophical phenomenon that organizes social interaction and influences the formation of social reality. The historical text contains codes and symbols, the reactivation of which may have different meanings. It is important to update strategies to overcome crisis situations and build life-affirming strategies. The article reveals a retrospective of the formation of a historical text as a social phenomenon that translates knowledge about the past in the context of the tasks facing man and society in the present time. In the context of modern social transformation, the historical text appears as a technology for working with information about the past for the purpose of self-preservation and development of society.
