Abstract: Service as a social institute characterized by specific social functions, development stages and institutionalization causes is put forward. The service industry has its own structure which makes it an independent social formation and an open social unit integrated into the whole social human activity system. Service activity is considered the essential structure element and its main function consists in taking care of all human activity forms.
