Abstract: The article demonstrates the role of social philosophy and social theories in problem solving of contemporary societies. The author substantiates the necessity and reveals the opportunities of the use of ideas and conceptions of contemporary social science in the practice of social and political planning and management. The author considers the problem of cooperation between Russian and Western scientific societies in the light of tendencies for humanities and social sciences development.
