Abstract. The article is about the concept of "superhero", which is a local version of the explication of the idea of the overman in the discourse of mass culture. Paraphernalia of the model of a superhero is stood out with the help of comparative culturally-philosophical analysis; the typical basic variants of its explication are characterized in this article. Separately the correlation of the concept of "superhero" is investigated with the value matrix codes of mass culture. The conclusion is made up about the superhero's protective role function as a protector of conformism and fighter for the value transgression.
