Abstract. Psychogenic causes of occurrence of the phenomenon of "mythic history" in historical consciousness are revealed in the article, relations between mythic history and event history, peculiarities of its functioning in the spiritual life of socium are researched. Examples of mythologizing historical events in different historical periods are given.

Key words: mythic history, archetype, spiritual life of the society, circular time, linear time, ideal society.
