Abstract. The article addresses the doctrine of the founder of Slavophilism A.S. Khomyakov about “holistic knowledge” as natural cohesion of faith and mind. The Khomyakov’s idea of “holistic knowledge” is a basis for a new Christian learning that overcomes rationalism of the West European philosophy. The study of Khomyakov’s theological works reveals him as a sophist who distinguishes the leading role of faith in “holistic knowledge”, as well as principles of freedom, will and love incarnated in Orthodox Church. Khomyakov understands the genuine unity of faith and mind that creates “holistic knowledge” as its dialectic formation and selfrevelation. The faith, when it gets a sound foundation, becomes “intellectual”; the mind becomes increasingly “willing” and receives some moral meaning.
Key words: Slavophilism, faith, mind, will, “holistic knowledge”, Church.
