Abstract. The article presents an analysis of a number of aspects of labor migration to Russia from foreign countries. The emphasis is placed on the role of social and economic exchange with the local migrant population. The authors demonstrate the distinction of exchange relations of different types of migrants with the indigenous inhabitants of the Russian village. The authors sought to show that the establishment of socio-economic interaction on both sides is a prerequisite for consistent, conflict-cultural co-existence of ethnic groups. We also consider the prospect of easing the resource potential of the russian village and the probable consequences of the replacement of the indigenous population representatives of other ethnic groups.
Key words: mobility, foreign migrant workers, adaptation, social and economic cooperation, local rural communities, business entities, culture, exchange.
