Abstract. The modern approaches to the concept of “economic activity” are analyzed in this paper. Relying upon the classical and contemporary sociological paradigm, the authors revealed four courses of the concept analysis. During substantiation of the third – economy and sociological – approach the authors are solving the following complex issues. How are the social mechanisms of economic activity functioning? How do individual and institutional parties of Russian economic field interact? What factors can be determinant in the process of constructing the positive economic activity of social actors? How the balance of economic interests for all economic actors can be achieved? How can economic activity be institutionalized? How can increment of innovative and human resources as the base for the development of economic space of Russia be provided for? The novelty of the research is in development of effective and ineffective models of economic activity and in proposals generation for concept structuring.
