Abstract. The article represents the empirical models of personality transformation that reveal the main methodological approaches to the definition of personality change essence. The described models are classified by the criterion of "speed" of the ongoing changes. The focus is on a particular type of changes that are collapsed in time and affect cognitive, affective and behavioral aspects of personality. This type of changes is considered in the context of the phenomenon of religious conversion. For the description and explanation of the conversion type of personality transformation, a layered model of personality is applied. Conversion changes are an attribute of the semantic level of an individual. The article represents the results of empirical research of changes of a person's semantic sphere in the context of religious conversion.
