Abstract. In modern society health becomes the consumer value which can be used for obtaining other values: material, educational, political, etc. The asset of health depends on the status of a person and, in turn, defines their social position and possible aspirations. At the same time, the use of health asset can have rational or irrational character. The article considers the features of health use as a social asset in modern Russia, reveals the factors influencing the formation of practices of its "consumption" and "disinvestment", and also the ways of their reorientation.
