Abstract. The article presents some results of the analytical sociological research aimed at identifying the main trends of marriage and family institutions development in contemporary Russia. These data were obtained through the poll conducted by the method of representative sampling. This poll was conducted in 2014 in Volgograd and in the Volgograd region and was one of the stages of the present research. The authors carried out the detailed statistical analysis of numerical values distribution of some empirical indicators. These indicators characterize the significance of the marriage and family sphere for respondents. The authors analyze the dependence of observed indicators values on age and other social and demographic features over the last four generations (in the age range of 18-80 years).
